Two long-time board members of Second Harvest Food Bank received surprise honors Monday.

Anne Milling and Leann Moses were awarded emeritus status for their service to the food bank that allowed it to respond to Katrina and Rita.

Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Second Harvest board chair Tricia Weeks, and the food bank’s president Natalie Jayroe made the presentation this afternoon.

After the 2005 storms, Second Harvest became the largest food bank in history.

By the end of May 2006, more than 44 million pounds of groceries were handed out despite a small fraction of their partner agencies able to help.
